Do you think America should get invovled with what is happening in Egypt?

Sorry if this has been asked. I haven't been on hardly at all the past couple days.
I already know they aren't involved.

  • IMO~Obama should have manned up and threatened loss of financial assistance to Mubarak~ before it got to this point. Now? Nope. Not unless any violence occurs to Americans in Egypt or any revolt leads to a push of violence into Israel... jmo...

  • Only if it impacts America/American interests, our citizens, or the people in the countries of our allies.

  • No, we should not. It's not our responsibility to save the world from themselves... Mubarak will step down, if not soon then by Sept. Unfortunately the people will revolt as they have chosen to do. It's not our problem.

  • I agree with grly, I think the situation has already been severely mishandled. The problem is that IF the MB takes control of Egypt, along with control of the Suez Canal; the cost of the passage of oil will be up to them and that is likely to become, heaven only knows, just how costly! Or they could just shut us off, after all, it's no secret that they hate Americans. So no matter what the outcome, it will have an impact on us, one way the other...

  • No - they don't care what we think about what's going on there on either side. If we were involved, it would simply be as their resource whore, no matter how we approached it.

  • It is to our benefit as a country to support Democracy, like our ideals say we should. I support Democracy in every country, especially a country that is going to these lengths to move forward. They are a young, educated population. They know that that democracy will improve their country, and improve their chances at being a healthy and robust economy. They are like everyone. They want success, challenges, opportunities, and a chance to form their own life and families. Most people do not have that opportunity, and it is a direct result of the dictatorship that is running their country. You have to pay someone off to get a job, well if you need a job, how can you pay? Many people want to get married, but they don't have a job or money. Neither do their parents. What do THEY do?

    Sorry rant OT! lol

  • Or they could just shut us off,

They won't likely do that. They want that money to use to wage terror on us and Israel. And it isn't FOX propaganda. It is national intel, Petraeus, CNN and PBS as well contemplating it.

Why do people spi]out such stupid statements?

  • No, I think we should leave them alone. We're not exactly everyone's favorite country over there, and I think our involvement would only hurt the situation more than anything. It's time we step back and let the rest of the world figure out how to run their own country. We have enough problems over here to worry about.
