If the bride doesn't ask you to buy the bride's maid dress, do you assume she's paying for it?

She just said she was registered and to go in and order it. I've only been in one other wedding, and the bride didn't have a lot of money and asked the bride's maids to pay for their own dresses, but usually the bride pays, right?

  • Usually the attendants pay for their own dress and shoes. Occaisionally a bride pays..but they should make that clear up front.

  • Oh, and for my wedding, I didn't do formal bride's maids or dresses, just had our attendants come in coordinating colors, so I never bought any bride's maids dresses, either.

  • I have never heard of a bride paying. I think it is assumed that you pay.

  • Usually the bridesmaid pays for their own dress unless stated otherwise. I would just go ahead and get the money, have it ready and if they say she's paying for it, then go from there! Then you are stunned when they give you a bill for the dress ;o) I made sure to let my bridesmaids know that they will be paying for it.

  • I would think it was on you to pay unless your friend has money. then I may consider she may be paying but doubt it. call and ask how much they cost and see how she responds.
