Would you be enraged if ...

there were a bill passed in your state that would allow teachers in educational institutions to carry firearms? This would mean that there would be teachers carrying concealed weapons into elemetary schools among other places where children would be present.

  • I'm not sure how I would feel about this, I know I'm asking myself WHY do teachers need to carry firearms to school, is there not enough killings going on now that we would have to worry about an incompetent teacher making one small mistake and one of our children dying. My children are taught gun safety, we have guns here at home (all locked up). I don't think I like the idea of anyone around my children with a weapon, there are to many what ifs in life as it is.
On a different point of view, if teachers were trained and allowed to carry fire arms, would so many children and teachers have lost their lives in the school shootings, could a well trained teacher with a fire arm save lives in a catastrophic situation. This is a really good question, and you get a bump. Kudos!

  • Not a fan. Not all of them would be a good shot or cool under pressure/during an emergency situation. I'd rather they focus on the task for which they are educated and drawing a salary. Imagine the 69 year old, tri-focaled  7th grade language arts teacher...again, no thanks.

  • In addition, think of the time and money required to make sure people were competent and maintained their skills. Who would monitor the testing? How often? If a teacher lost his/her competency, would they lose their gun? job? both?-
