Not a fan. Not all of them would be a good shot or cool under pressure/during an emergency situation. I'd rather they focus on the task for which they are educated and drawing a salary. Imagine the 69 year old, tri-focaled 7th grade language arts teacher...again, no thanks.

In addition, think of the time and money required to make sure people were competent and maintained their skills. Who would monitor the testing? How often? If a teacher lost his/her competency, would they lose their gun? job? both?-
