Why do companies even use food coloring?

What color would it be with out it? Is that such a bad thing?

  • I'm guessing everything would be beige or muted and not pleasing to the eye.
We're so used to bright colors,we don't know what natural looks like!

  • For visual appeal, though if you have to add color to something to make it appealing, well, that definitely worries me.

  • Not only is it pleasing to the eye but it is also to entice children. Sad!

  • Why can people not just take a question as general. Any food that has food coloring in it. It doesn't matter. It is a general statement.

  • Well, from what i understand to enhance the color. Unfortunately it's hard to find things w/o food dyes. Pickles have blue and yellow dye-pickles! Cheetos use red and yellow dye. The even put red in strawberries, and other fruits to make them look better. yuk!
