  • are u the mother or the child? If ur the child maybe u should start by searching Odessa, Tx. I don't think its that large.

  • I am the child and I have searched there. It was a closed adoption and I have hardly any information, and what I do have is non-identifying.

  • Check out the "Adoption Search Resources" group here on CM. Also register on Soundex and on . Then google for a search angel in your state. A search angel is someone who volunteers their time to connect people separated by adoption. They know all the tricks.
    Best of luck!

  • Things to try...

--Texas has a passive, mutual consent registry. You can see if your birth mother has placed a consent on file for you to have identifying information about her. . If there is no consent on file, do not be discouraged. Just because the state has a registry does not mean she knows about it (she can't register if she doesn't know, right? :-) ). It's worth a shot.

--Check with your agency. Do they have reunion services? Can they give you non-identifying information from your file?

--Check with a search angel or search angel group. I have a friend who is a search angel in TX, not sure if she is still doing it, I will ask her.

    --Register/check with and

  • Hello,
I'm a search angel ( I help people search for family members for free) and I'm also an adoptee. I live in Texas and work on searches here and also across the country. Feel free to contact me at my facebook page and I will try to help you locate your family. Texas does have what is called a birth index and I have access to it.
