Is it okay to give a 2yr old popcorn?

My MIL says it is a choking hazard.

  • it can be, even adults choke on it sometimes. i wouldnt just yet.

  • My kids starting eating at about 2 years old; it pretty much disolves very quickly once it gets in their mouth so I was never concerned with it being a choking hazard. If you're on the fence, hold off.

  • I haven't given my 2.5 year old popcorn, but that's not to say I wouldn't, I just haven't. If the husks get caught in my throat, I have to assume they could get caught in her throat, too. Not to mention getting lodged into the gums and between teeth..brushing her teeth is already a nightmare, I wouldn't want to add trying to get pieces of popcorn out into the mix!
