  • try a humidifier wherever he sleeps every can gets the Vicks humidifier and put the actual Vicks liquid in diperses it into the air.put him over your knee and pound his back a little...Motrin won't help the cough but may help him sleep a little...does he have allergies?? have you tried a little bit of pediatric benadryl?? we got the ok from our pedi to use a certain amount..check with him. It may help dry it's a good thing that is loose though...just make sure it doesn't settle into his lungs and get really hacky and dry. that's the most important thing...TONS of fluids to keep it loose. good luck.

  • He needs to see a doctor, I'm sure you've done this but take him back. In the mean time get a bathroom really steamy, lots of hot water running in the sinks, tub and shower. Let him breath in the steam for awhile. I think he might need another antibiotic, or be seen by a respiratory specialist.

  • If he's been coughing this long, it's time to see the doctor. It could be bronchitis. It could, let's pray not, be whooping cough. Until you can get him to the doctor, the advice given above about humidifying his environment is helpful. You can use Vick's chest rub a few times a day (follow the directions) to help open him up too.

  • Doctor for sure, but what kind of a cough? dry, loose, is he bringing up mucus? What's in you environment: could be reaction to dust, TOBACCO SMOKE - in which case everybody outside to smoke and wait at least 10 minutes for the smoke to leave your clothes before returning. Do you use a lot of cleaning chemicals - especially sprays? many kids react a lot to them, even things like bleach and liquid detergents. Dogs, Cats, birds, moulds, do some internet research on common household contaminants and eliminate everything you can identify as possible culprits. It could be an allergy and but hopefully not, the beginnings of asthma in which case link up with a good respirology clinic and make sure he's well followed until it's under control
