  • So was this a statement on whether or not people consider him the right guy for the job, or a reflection on all the bad blood he built up from his previous profession? There's no shortage of people who'd like to see him dead. For Obama's sake, he better hope it's revenge and not political - having someone try to assassinate your pick for "transitional leader" within a week of him taking the job isn't a good sign for future relations.

  • The ME has just always been so volatile. Yitzhak Rabin (PM of Israel) was also assassinated in 1995.

  • And to think this is the guy they want to replace Mubarak. What happens after he is gone? I don't care what they say. our government would have been fine with Mubarak to continue heading this government. Now they see the new VP as a great substitute who will make some concessions for the people but leave the nitty gritty the same.

  • The VP was engaged in rendition for the US. I do not think the people want HIM. It is time for him and Mubarak to get out of dodge, the people have spoken
