How much beef do I need to make BBQ burger's for 7 adults and 2 toddlers?

I grew up vegetarian and my hubby has no idea. I think we will need 16 burgers guessing how much each person will eat. How many pounds of beef do I need?

  • You can get 4 nice burgers out of a pound of hamburger, so if you need 16 burgers you need atleast 4 pounds of ground beef.

  • 10 lbs will be way too much - if you're thinking 16 burgers, at 1/4 lb each, you'll have more than plenty with 5 lbs. I was going to say 3 lbs should be enough, 4 would give you extra, 5 will be more than enough.

  • If everyone is just having one, 3 lbs will provide 12 burgers, I would do 4 lbs, because you may end up making them larger than 4 oz each.
