Isn't it surprising how dependent we are on cell phones. You can hardly find a pay phone anymore.

  • its a sign of the new technology era. i for one am totally dependent on cell-phones. we have a landline but rarely use it. im betting in another decade or two, payphones/landlines will be non-existent. i have a feeling cash will follow the same trend one day, everything will be automated.

  • My husband andI don't have a cell phone. We're no dependent on them at all. Infact even when I did have a cell phone I rarely used it.
You can find payphones at almost every business. Such as walmart, gas stations, and places of that nature.

  • Not surprising in the least, really. I understand what your saying... I know an 8 y/o who has Sprint. LOL, cutesy, eh?

  • Most people tear up pay phones like idiots so a lot of places don't even bother with them anymore.

  • We don't have cell phones either, we are both home full time right now and have no reason for them. However once my DH and I are working again and the kids aren't with us full time we will have them. All the payphones have been removed, even from Kmart and such because they don't make any money. But if you have an emergency most places will still let you use their office phone - you just have to ask.

  • I see payphones everywhere. We only have cell phones but that is just becasue our landlines cost just as much as a cell phone now.

  • I was just thinking that same thing a few days ago! my cell went dead & i was on my way to my son's new apartment- i was getting lost; can you believe i drove through about 10 stores trying to find a Pay Phone? i finally did & i was Amazed it only cost 50cents to call anywhere in the US!LOL! They really do need to put them at more stores in case someone has a Emergency or No Cell!

  • All we have is one cellphone (StraightTalk) because we can't afford a land line phone (a plan with no long distance starts at like $50 here, with long distance it's around $80). There are still quite a few pay phones around here, though. Cell service is a fairly new thing around here and there are still a ton of places that don't have any at all for miles and miles (mostly out of town in the mountains). There's a pay phone at pretty much every gas station, at the mall, a few grocery stores, etc.
