  • No. My African violets (about 25 years old now) stay in bloom almost all year around (very strange, but it does). It sits in a relatively sunny spot - about 6-8 hours a day, not near the window, but the room is very bright. I water it about once a week (if I remember, on top of keeping my children alive, myself somewhat presentable, the house somewhat livable, and my husband fed)...when I water, I make sure the soil is thoroughly soaked, but not overly wet so the roots are not sitting in water. Maybe it's just luck. I did the same with my orchids, and I've killed at least 10 of them...just keep trying.
