Do contractions come before or after your water breaks?
Oh and how painful are they? I was just having mild contractions right now for like 10 minutes. So i'm like wondering if it's time! I'm only 8 months though. Help

  • Real labor contractions won't stop if you get up and walk around, braxton hicks contractions sometimes can be hard to tell! I was fooled by Braxton Hicks for nearly a month before I actually went into labor. Time your contractions and if you're 8mins or less between each for a consistent hour, call your OB. Otherwise, try moving around a bit and sometimes a back massage, bath or heat pack can help. Good luck!

  • Sometimes water doesn't break (baby is born in the intact sac: "caul").
And sometimes water breaks a month before labor begins...

    There are so many variations~

They tend to be more painful after it breaks.
If you are having some now it might be practice, warming up, or preterm labor.

There are things you can try to Tame them.

  • Some womens water doesnt break on their own SO they can come before. they start of not so bad then get HORRID if your sitting stand up and walk around if your walking sit down drink some water and pee if they continue call your dr esp since your only 8 months you might want to call anyway and see what they say

  • They come before and during, they can be very painful, & you need to time them out, if they are close together then you may be going into labor if your worried calla nurse and tell them whats going on they will advise you on what to do from there
