how many ounces of formula should a 5 month old have in 24 hours?

I have not been able to get a straight answer, which i know there isnt that all kids are differrent. But i counted today and 17and a half just in my view isnt enough, plus he gets 3 jars of baby food and 1 ounce of juice and water.....Not even my doc can tell me whats it 4 8oz bottles a day or some where around there right?

  • My baby is 4 months old. 4 ounces of formula alone will not please him . I looked it up and it said 24-32 oz a day for a 5 month old. I hope this helps

  • Babies tend to eat as much as they need. If you spoke to your doctor and he's not concerned, I wouldn't worry. Keep in mind he's eating babyfood and drinking other liquid.

If he's sick, diharrhea, vomitting, fever, etc. then it's a concern.

  • I fed my babies when they were hungry. I didn't go by what a chart said or what the dr. said.
A chart doesn't know your child like you do. If he's not getting full, then give him more.

  • The real test is whether or not your child is gaining weight as expected.

  • I would cut the juice and sub in more formula. I have the smae worries about mine, he is 5 months and weight 19.7 lb. My fear isn't not eating enough it is dehydration. So i am a little parinoid with not enough liquid.
