Home Daycares!!!

People who have their own home daycare.
How many kids do you have and how do you file the taxes?

The most I am taking is 5.

What was the process you went through to have you in home daycare.

  • I'm in the process of getting a license as a home daycare provider. The laws are different in every state. Here in Ga, as of 2009, you have to have a degree in Early Childhood Education, even to be a home daycare provider. The is a home visit that has to be done, you have to have a curriculum for kids 2 and older, and of course pass a background and fingerprint check. The most kids you can have at once is 6. If more than that, you have to apply to be a daycare center that hires employees.

  • An in home daycare is like any business, you need a DBA and tax ID if required in your state. You also have to look into state laws regarding how many children you alone are legally allowed to watch. To have 5 children you may be required to have an employee there as well.
