My Daughter is 4 months old..

& she would roll over to her side an sleep, but now she's rolling completely over basically on her belly an it makes me nervous.. It this okay? or should i roll her on her back, i don't want to bother her while she sleeps but i don't want her stuffing her face an nose to close into the crib.. Hmmm..

  • If she can roll herself into that position she should be fine. Just keep putting her on her back at night. If you are really worried, get rid of the bumper pad.

  • hmm... i have a son who is 4 1/2 months old and he's able to get onto his tummy just fine but then he has problems rolling back onto his back so i might be worried if he was doing this as well.
however, if he's old enough to roll onto his tummy on his own i think the general rule is to leave him be.
i'd be interested in seeing what other moms say, good luck!

  • Yeah, well i don't want to get rid of the bumpers just yet because she would get her legs caught in the side of the crib bars.. thanks ladies!

  • I don't remember who makes it, but there is a mesh bumper pad that is supposed to be safer for baby than the padded ones. That way no risk of suffocation and no legs out the bars. :)

  • my daughter gets her legs thru the bars even with the bumper pad in place. then she gets pissed because she can't get them back in the bed. it's kinda funny but she only does that when i lay her down awake.

my pedi said that if she was rolling over onto her belly herself then it was ok for her to sleep like that. i actually lay her on her belly at night when i lay her down because if not she'll wake herself back up when she rolls over to her belly and we have to do the whole nurse till she falls asleep routine again.

  • oh yeah, she'll be 5 months on the 25th, but has been sleeping like this for about a month and half now. she started rolling when she was 2 months old tho.

  • That mesh bumper pad another mom is talking about they sell at Onestepahead.com! lol and I never worried about layla when she rolled to her belly. If she is having a hard time getting back over I would just watch her but as long as she doesnt seem to be struggleing she should be fine Just always lay her down on her back.. how ever she turns during the night should be fine though! Just make sure theres nothing else in there she could roll on to and cover her face.. hope this helps!

  • We always used rolls to keep our baby on its back. they are safe and give you a few extra months of maturity until they can lift their head to clear their breathing path. There is also a product on the market that is a sleeper and helps keep babies on their back (and helps them sleep better) called the magic sleepsuit
