poor kitty

i just noticed today that the side of my cats cheek is swollen. i felt where it is big and it feels like a big scab is there. she doesnt flinch or anything when you touch it.... should i take her to the vet? or just clean it up?

  • It depends on the severity...if there is a scab then there is probably a puncture some where on the cheeck. also if it is swollen there is a possiblity that it has abcessed and may need to be drained and may need to go on antibiotics. It could also just be inflammed from a puncture. Another thing that most pet owners look past is that it could be an infection in the mouth, pets dont often have the best dental care and could be cause by an infected tooth. I would definately recommend a vet visit to determine the cause. Good Luck.

  • I would take the cat to the vet asap, it sounds like it is either an abscess or warbol (fly larva) with either of those it can cause a high fever and they can go down hill very quickly, the sooner you get it taken care of the less expensive it will be:-)
