  • Midwives tend to be more caring and give you more time during visits
Doulas are not necessary if you have a good support coach

  • My daughter had a doula in the birthing room with her. She was fantastic. But she was a very special person. Like every profession there are good ones and bad ones.

  • I had 2 midwives but, that was Military hospitals and I requested them. I am sure you can request them through your insurance company..call them and ask which midwives are within your region to use...Same with Doula's I am sure.

  • It depends on what you want out of your birth experience, how important your priorities and preferences are.

These are 2 different kinds of caregivers.

I have a lot of info to share but my linking ability isn't working...
I will try to get back to post it/you can check my journal (Earliest ones).

  • I saw a midwife at the doctor's office i went to with my last pregnancy, and unless there is something i don't know about she did exactly what the regular obgyn did with my oldest son.

  • You can always contact your local La Leche League . . . I am certain they will have some excellent recommendations.

If you can afford a doula, I have heard that they are sooooooooo helpful@!
