  • Yes, they are influenced by anyone they spend a lot of time with. That includes relatives, and friends.

  • Yes, they are pretty strongly influenced by my family - their aunt and grandparents. I love my in-laws, but one of the reasons we don't move closer to the in-laws is because the children in that family have quite a few behavioral problems (okay, A LOT) and we just can't stand the thought of our children picking up on that stuff.

  • Nope. We have always had a strong relationship with both our kids. I credit a former boss of mine who told me (when mine were still quite young) how important it is to have one-on-one time with each child every day. AND (this is the key) to always be sure that we are giving them our undivided attention during this time. Not my knitting, or DH's sudoku; but looking right at them, and really paying attention to them only. Even during the bumpy times with my DD (around 11-13) she still listened to us -- she argued a lot, but she listened. She loves that my sisters spoil her with gifts; but she turns to me first for advice, or to share good news. I love that. :-)

  • I'm with a lot of the previous posters - we live too far away for them to have much influence.

  • Yes I do, my 5 year old really like her uncle and picks up stuff really quick from him. From him she has learned some words or maybe I should say some rather not very nice names to call people and we try to get her to quit saying them but when she is around him he will say them or come up with other stuff she should not be saying.I get rather upset with him sometimes. :)

  • We live far away so there is not much influence on how they behave, but they know that my mother, brother and grandfather ADORE them and they talk and skype a lot.
