  • I'm a little torn on this.... I don't think it's awful but I do think they maybe a little young. maybe if it was a parent child dance it would be different.

  • I agree at 8 a daddy daughter or mother son dance might be more appropriate.

  • Tough question... I think its a bit young but again social interaction is very important in a childs life. I agree with the others that it would be better if it were a parent child dance. Spruce it up a little with a fun theme.

  • A parent/child dance would be appropriate, other than that not so much.

  • Thank you everyone for your comments. My daughter and her friend came up with the idea and I nixed it right away telling my daughter that I thought they were too young for something like this. I just wanted to get some opinions from other moms to back me up :-). My daughter doesn't seem to be boy crazy but I know some of her friends are.already. It's a little disconcerting!

Great suggestions about the parent/child dance!

  • No that is a perfect time to start having a valentine's dance. At eight years of age they are becoming a tween they are not a small child and they aren't a teen as yet. I think that is the age that kids start to dance any way.

  • Um, yes. I have a 10 year old and an 8 year old (boys), and neither of them are ready for anything like that--at these ages they would just hang out with their friends, anyway. Only one or two of the boys would even dance.
