How "green" is your family?

On a scale of 1-10? What sorts of things do you do to help the environment?

  • I would say a 6 or 7. I am more green than my husband. He drives me nuts, sometimes. I find myself digging through the trash to get recycleable stuff out. So annoying. But I wish I could replace some of our appliances in our home to be more energy effecient, but we rent, so that isn't an option for us. We do recycle everything possible. Well, I do anyway. :) I am also planning to use cloth diapers with my second baby. I didn't the first time because my hubby said they cost too much and he didn't want to deal with them. Well, he didn't change most of the diapers, so I am going to invest in some cloth ones this time around.

  • We're probably a 7. We try to buy local and organic, we compost, recycle, use reusable bottles for water, use green products, cook at home, have relatively fuel efficient vehicles, don't drive when not needed, cook from home, rarely eat processed foods (more for health than green reasons)... We do what we can. We're not perfect, but many ofthese actually save us money, and we waste a whole lot less. I also plan out our meals, which saves a ton of money and food waste. We try to eat what's in season, and shop at the farmer's market. There's a local butcher I still need to try.

  • 7 or 8 we do everything we can - we compost and recycle, we replaced all of our light bulbs we are slowly replacing our windows. We buy local from a local grocer and we grow what we can.

LOL to the whole humans are not effecting the earth, that is like saying burning word doesn't effect the wood.

  • I'm a greener, lol We recycle, alot. Drive fuel efficient vehicles, 5 cent deposit on bottles and cans, we either take them back to the store or donate, garden in my backyard. I'd say we're a 7.

  • My husband and I are building our home. I designed my home to be green to a T, which includes concrete floors, breezy rooms, off the grid solar electricity, tankless water heater and the works. Everything inside is recycled and/or reuseable from the wood to the shingles. In my mind, green = free or cheap ; ) I would have to say I am a 8 or 9 on the scale. As soon as we finish, my gardens will go up as well as my compost.

  • I don't know maybe a 5? We recycle plastic, aluminum cans, cardboard, paper, magazines. We have all those energy efficient light bulbs in the house, we don't buy bottled water, just use those aluminum or plastic water bottles.

  • I think we might just barely scrape a 1. The whole "save the earth by being green" is lost on us- we don't buy into that...and as far as global warming goes, well I would welcome a little of that right now. I think the earth is going to be just dandy with or without us humans.

On the other hand, we do feel that it is responsible not to be wasteful, which is not entirely a green issue in my opinion.

  • I'd say we are around an 8 we recycle, aluminum cans, newspaper, plastics, cans garden, compost, we have all the energy efficent light bulbs in our home drive energy cars, we don't run lights any more then we have to we do the best we can.
