Should i take dd to her doctor

last night I took dd to the ER for high fever, severe swollen throat, and stomach pains. i told them that my younger DD has the he had the nurse run a strep and flu test...well DD didn't like the swab in the nose therefore the nurse let her do it herself they said she had a virus....this morning i get a call from her best friends mom telling me her bestfriend had the same symptoms and she took her to her pediatrician and had a form of the swine flu...should i take dd to her ped to have her reswabbed since she probably didnt get enough snot on it...the nurse kept telling her to go deeper and she didn't...they also wanted to give her a steriod shot for her throat and dd who is 10 cried like a lil baby and the dr said it was up to her he didnt have to give it to her and just wrote her a script

  • Never heard of swabbing the nose. May get better results swabbing her throat. She'll gag but it's quick.

  • Most doctors office's have a nurse you can talk to. Call and run the nurse through everything. She'll give you some good advice. They'll most likey give you an appointment date as well so that IF your DD does not get better you already have a spot and you can bring her in. IF she does get better ( I sincerely hope she does) then you can just cancel the appointment and continue whatever treatments you are doing at home.

  • Take her to the doctor and have them do the testing NOT her. She is 10 and needs to learn how to deal with medical procedures and shots. Strep is going around bad and strep can include tummy issues along with sore throats.
