  • ~awesome homemade pizza crust~
    2 1/4 teaspoon active dry yeast or one package
    1/2 teaspoon brown sugar
    1/2 cups warm water
    1 teaspoon salt
    2 teaspoons olive oil
    start with 2 1/2 cups flour.

    1) Dissolve yeast and brown sugar in water, let sit 10 minutes.

    2) Stir in salt and oil into yeast. Mix in flour if dough is sticky, add more flour -
    1/4 cup at a time.

    3) Place dough in an oiled bowl and cover, let rise for 1 hour. punch or knead to pop
    air bubbles, form a ball.

    4) preheat oven to 350 degrees. grease cookie sheet or pizza pan, Roll out dough,
    place on greased pan, poke holes into dough with a fork all over and put into oven
    to bake for 10 minutes.

    5) when 10 minutes is up, spread pizza sauce or i used spagetti sauce, toppings and
    cheese on it and turn up the oven to 400 degrees and bake till cooked through or the
    bottom of the crust has turned

    This is the one I use....it has a lot of instructions and seems complicated, but is truly isn't...It has no sugar (not needed in pizza dough) and I add, parmesean cheese, garlic, and oregano to the crust because my family loves savory crust.  I don't always have it rise the full second time because my family is always in a bigger hurry than I am.  But it is still good.  


    And I use pizza sauce and not spaghetti sauce because it is more savory and less sweet.  I don't like sweet pizza sauce.
