In your opinion, who has done the best cover song?

Is there a band/singer who has covered a song that you thought was so much better than the original? What band/singer and song? My DH and I both agree that our favorite is "Hurt" covered by Johnny Cash, a Nine Inch Nail song. I also live Aaron Lewis's (front man for Staind) "Black"

  • "Tainted Love" and "Sweet Dreams" covered by Marilyn Manson. I like the originals, but I loved his covers.

  • I agree with Simplicity. Songs I have hated in their original form I love when Glee does covers of. Like "Teenage Dream."

  • Tori Amos does a lovely cover of The Cure's Love song. I also adore Marilyn Manson's versions of Tainted Love and Sweet Dreams (though maybe not as much as the originals, I like them all in different ways.)

  • If you have iTunes, search for Glee and listen to samples of their songs.

  • "Teenage Dream" and "Fireworks" --- Both sung better by the cast of Glee.

Funny that they are both Katy Perry songs.

OP, you can do a search for Glee on Youtube. A lot of songs pop up.

  • Oh and I liked Metallica's cover of "Die, Die My Darling" better than the original (by Misfits). I think AFI covered the Misfits song "Halloween" and did a great job, too.
