    I've got both but i don't really care about the purebred's status...a dog is a dog.

  • I don't think the dogs breeding means much unless you want a show dog.

  • Purebred - breeding makes a difference with training a hunting dog. Some dogs are breed for certain instincts, such as tracking.

  • Mutt, you don't get as many genetic health problems with a mutt as a purebred.

  • It depends if I needed a dog for a certain job, like herding or hunting then I would be inclined to get a purebred from a line that was proven to excel in what I was looking for.
    But, for a fun pet to have around than I would go with a mutt. I currently have a Border Collie/Beagle mix and he is amazing.
