what are you going to cook for thanksgiving?

i hope i can get some ideas for a thanksgiving supper this is my first thanksgiving this yr and how i can make it easier for me to cook

  • How many people are you cooking for? If you keep it simple, it's really pretty easy...or at least not any harder than most other meals :) The trick is planning ahead. Lots of the dishes can be made in the 2 days before Thanksgiving, then reheated at dinner time. Mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls, turkey stock for gravy & dressing...all of these can be made ahead, as well as pies.
    Here is what we are having:
    Roasted dry brined turkey
    turkey gravy
    mashed yukon gold potatoes
    dressing
    green beans with lemon & orange zest
    roasted asparagus & cauliflower
    cranberry sauce (canned for my brother, fresh for everyone else! lol)
    and of course, PIE! :)

  • Ham (I don't eat turkey, yuck)
    Turkey (a TINY one my sister don't eat ham)
    Deviled Eggs (yuck)
    Pumpkin Pie (mmmmmmmmmmmmm)
    Candy Yams (mmmmmmmmmmmmm)
    Green Beans
    Baked Beans with Bacon
    and Stuffing (yuck, we don't make much of this)

  • Things that helped me on my first go was have everything that can be refridgerated and served chilled already done like a day ahead. Thaw your turkey a couple of days before Thanksgiving.
