  • Reagan played 'The Gipper' (the nickname for George Gipp) in a movie and actually used the line "Win for for the Gipper" in the movie. That is why he was called "The Gipper" and he even refered to himself that way. Why on earth would Obama think he should do the same?

  • I will rephrase, so you can understand.

tsk, tsk, tsk, jump right in and start insulting. Not too much for that civility thing now are you?

No, I don't like PBO trying to make himself 'seem' like Reagan. It's ok though. It won't work, because it isn't real. The  thing about being truthful is you don't have to remember what you said. He hasn't had too good of a track record on that front.

  • Yes, it's a huge national concern.

To me, it goes to character--which is a legitamate concern.

And yes, I know that the term is long standing, but in sporting events.  By using the term in a political context as he had, he is trying to bring the ties into Reagan.  Which is just not right.  Just like Lloyd Bentsen said to Dan Quayle that he is no JFK, Obama is no Reagan.

  • well, there have been several news articles where Obama is studying Regan trying to re-invent himself before the next elections. I think calling himself the Gipper is ridiculous. He should make his own image. Next elections cant come too soon for me.

  • Barry is not even worthy to have licked the bottom of President Reagan's shoes! For him to call himself that is derogatory and insulting to a great man, and the greatest President of our time! Mr. Reagan would be spinning in his grave. Barry needs to call himself what he is.... a moron!
