has anyone ever tried this?

if you havent-- try it!--- Melt (white) sugar in a pan completely (until it turns a golden brown color) over low- mid heat. Pour the sugar onto a glass plate, let cool until it hardens, and you've got old fashioned sugar- candy! its sooo good! it tastes a little bit like molasses.( when trying to get off of the plate, use a metal spatula.) don't knock it till ya try it!!

  • You're making a sugar caramel. If you butter the plate, it will come off easier, and the butter tastes good. When you want to get creative with it, use brown sugar, and add butter to it, then spread on a buttered cookie sheet and sprinkle with chocolate chips. Add almonds if you like. Or, rather than the plate or pan, pour it over popped popcorn and toss.

  • I forgot to say, if you use a fork to drizzle it on a buttered cookie sheet, you can make a beautiful and tasty decoration for all kinds of desserts...and it's really good broken up and sprinkled over ice cream sundaes!
