  • From my husband, who is more into thing such as this
    The Good
    Free Market Economics
-Businesses are allowed to fail or succeed on their own (although that is being tested today).
    Freedom of Relgion
-Each person is free to worship as he or she sees fit without government interference that is imposed on individuals in other countries.
    Advancement of Healthcare
-We have some of the best healthcare technology available in the world
    Freedom of the press
-No state run newspapers to give us only the info they want us to hear.
    Low food costs
    - Americans spend less on food than any other country due to advancements in Agriculture. 2% of Americans feed the other 98%.
    The Bad
Increased Power by the Federal Government
    2 Party Political System
We were warned about this from our forefathers.
    Possibility of Privatized Healthcare

  • Continued:
Where has this really worked for better healthcare in other countries? I don't want to wait months for surgery that I need because it isn't deemed as a necessity by the government. When doctors are salaried they will not do more when they will receive the same pay check by doing less work. The salaries of nurses will also decline leading to a nursing shortage bigger than it already is. No one would want to go to school that long and take classes that tough to make $8.00 an hour to wipe butts.

    Politicians involved in Oil
-I know people who have served overseas in the Middle East. Gas prices over there are around $.06 a gallon. They don't understand why it is so much higher over here. They have been selling oil to us at the same price for years, yet gas prices continue to rise.

  • Five Social problems:

    1. Public Schools
Overcrowded, safety issues, budget issues, teaching to an average rather than challenging students...to name a few problems

    2. Unemployment- no jobs and a poor economy are a bad combination.

    3. Media- no ethics or morals anymore...or unbiased news reports.

    4. Lack of traditional values- Traditional family values are collapsing

    5. Government- What happened to "We the people?" Now it is "We the bureaucrats!"

    Five best things:

    1. Our Constitution and Bill of Rights

    2. Freedom

    3. Equal opportunity

    4. Technology

    5. Diversity

  • Worst:

    1. Lack of values and ethics. Traditional families are few and far between, teen pregnancy is no longer taboo.
    2. Media's standards. They will put anything on tv these days.
    3. Unemployment/economy. Pretty self explanitory
    4. Lack of pride in our country. A LOT of people didnt care that our national antham was flubbed. They said "She's human, she made a mistake, get over it" Yes some were outraged but it should have been everyone.
    5. Our government. spottedpony said it best...its no longer "We the People"

    Best
    1. Medical care. Yes its expensive but its still the best care you can get.
    2. Technology
    3. Freedom. We still mostly have the freedom to go about our lives as we see fit.
    4. The opertunities we have
    5. Gun laws. You have the right to own as many as you want or none.
