  • No way. Formula (or breastmilk) is all a baby truly needs until their first birthday. "Baby foods" are not meant to fill up a baby, nor do they offer any true nutrition - they are for practice only, to get a baby ready for table foods after their first birthday. Giving a 2 month old solids is a recipe for disaster - it can seriously mess with their very immature digestive systems. Don't do it.

  • 2 months sounds really early! Have you talked to your pediatrician?

  • Any doctor will tell you 4 months start feeding them rice cereal and work up from there over time. I have 3 boys and they were starving by 2 months old and needed a little extra filling in their bellies. I put a small amount of cereal in their bottle at bedtime to start them off and monitored their bowel movements. They are totally fine and not overweight at all. Every child is different. I would trust what your doctor says. I have definitely never heard anyone say to wait until the child is a full year though. That seems a little too long to live on only formula. You just need to be careful what you introduce to their systems. Start out with rice cereal for sure.

  • It's recommended to start trying solids around 4-6 months.

  • I don't recommend anything other then breast milk or formula until AT LEAST 6 mos of age.

  • Atleast 4 months is what I hear but it really depends on the baby. EVERY child is different so they can be ready at different times. 2

  • I didn't start my kids on food until 6 months. Check with your pediatrician. I know some people put a little rice cereal in the formula to thicken it up a bit. You might have to slit the holes of the nipple a bit.
