  • I usually do the typical eggs, milk, vanilla, but I tried my grandma's recipe and it turned out very well also.

Eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, 2 Tbl sugar, and 2-3 Tbl AP flour. It makes the french toast fluffier than normal. While it turned out well, I still like my regular version too.

  • I would use thicker sliced bread and make a pocket, cream some cream cheese with with some powered sugar and lemon juice, add strawberries/blackberries/blueberries to cream cheese mixture and stuff this into bread then put bread in french toast mixture, and cook as usual.

  • And don't forget nutmeg!

  • I don't measure either - but eggs, milk, cinnamon, and vanilla. I've seen people use orange juice instead of milk for orange french toast, but I'm not that daring. You could add nutmeg, or apple pie spice or pumpkin pie spice.

  • The kids love it when I use eggs, a bit of french vanilla creamer and some freshly grated nutmeg. Also a change of syrup can make the same old thing seem new and different. My GS just discovered Boysenberry..lol.

  • I mix 1/2 & 1/2, eggs, vanilla, cinnamon and brown sugar in a bowl.

I use day old challah bread, buti have used french bread, sour dough, Italian, Cuban...all kinds of bread. Just don't use wonder bread,or any other commercial bread in the bread isle. You got to use good bread from the bakery section.

  • i also put a pinch of salt in my custard mix

  • I use eggs and milk (2 Tbsp milk for every egg), and then add salt and pepper, and cinammon. I made this within the last week or so and thought I'd try vanilla as well, but didn't like that too much.
