  • In our town you have to apply through the Health Dept. Start there and they can guide you.

  • Here we have a child care council that oversees the licensing and registration. Do a google search for Day care regulations in your city and county.

  • You can search online, so you know where and who to contact. Are you planning on being licensed? You'll have to go through a few classes, and inspections. You will both need to be CPR and first aid trained, you can only have so many kids per square feet, so you'll need to research that and see if it will be profitable. Also, you'll need to decide if you are going to be a class one or class two home daycare, it will depict what needs done, like fences or so forth. Also, everyone in the home will need to have a background check, regardless of if they will be home at the time of care. If there are pets in the home, they will need to have all of their shots updated.

As for grants, just google grants for home daycares in your state. IMO they are a lot of work, for the $1-2000 that you'd get. You have to write a business plan, and have written references from people in your community that are not related to you.

  • My SIL in Alabama works for one of the univerities and her job is to help people set up and run home daycares. Try your state/local universities.
