Why do some groups ask for 'salutes'?

I just went to look over a group that I was invited to and it said that they do random salutes. I hate that... I mean what is the purpose of it exactly?

Have you ever not joined a group or left one because of they demand salutes?

  • because they are lame. The salute is so easy to get around it's laughable but it make some people feel more secure.

  • Oh that's so juvenile!! I wouldn't join either.... so not into the drama thing. I've been invited to some groups with strange rules... just not into the games. I already went to high school once, right. ;o)

  • I did join one and did the salute..but I asked why it was required before doing it. Their reason: some "guy" was stalking a member and getting all her personal info, blah blah blah..right. I still did it, but it wasn't the greatest group, anyway, so I left.

I don't see the point in doing them..even a salute doesn't prove you are who you are - one could always get someone else to do it for them, ya know? Even with the kiddo in it, like that specific group required. Lame!

  • It's where they 'call you out' and give you a certain amount of time to post a pic of yourself holding a sign.
