  • Lots of women do their own prenatal care all the way through the entire pregnancy.
If you want to self-monitor, it is an option.

Do you feel like you need something in particular?

  • Most women aren't seen until around 10 weeks, then it is once a month until closer to the end. I was self pay. It wasn't too bad. However, check before you go. Your insurance may deny paying the entire pregnancy if you go before you insurance "kicks in." If you know they'll cover it, just go and tell the doctor or midwife when your insurance kicks in. For pregnancy, most OBs and midwives bill at delivery for the entire thing. (You can go sit down with the office manager at your OB or MWs office and ask them about billing and your particular insurance. They've dealt with the company enough to know what to do.)
