HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR SOMETHING TO GET INTO THE BREASTMILK?

MY SON HAS BEEN VERY GASSY AND FUSSY SO MY MOM SUGGESTED GAS DROPS AND CHAMOMILE TEA, IM JUST NOT SURE HOW LONG IT TAKES UNTIL THE TEA WOULD GET INTO MY BREASTMILK. I WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT HE GETS SOME.
IS IT RIGHT AWAY? OR AN HOUR OR TWO?

  • normal digestion time... 30-45 minutes... up to one hour.

go with the gas drops.. you give those directly to the baby.

  • Try bathing your baby (or with your baby in a warm bath while rubbing his belly to relieve pressure. Always try that before giving your child medication for gas. Since you're breastfeeding I'd also suggest avoiding foods that make YOU gassy as that's going to make baby gassy.

  • My doctor said that it takes about 4 hours or so for what you have been eating to get into your breastmilk....i would assume the same goes for things your drinking..
