  • Its amazing how much fun a kid can have building things with marshmallows or gumdrops and toothpicks. Its also cheap and educational. We did it with heart shaped marshmallows for valentines day.

  • I will just get out all the craft stuff we have and give her contruction paper a lot and let her imagination run wild. We will paint holiday stuff around that holiday.
Also it's fun to let them help you cook cupcakes, make mini pizzas on their own or ice cream sundaes.

that sounds nice. I'd rather not use sticky food though. We use mostly art stuff non-edible types.
I just let them cut paper and tape/ staple/ and make shapes like origami , they designed boats, cars, planes, and even apartments from shaped paper , or rolled up, or taped.

  • You can do all sorts of things w/ basics that everyone has--
turn egg cartons into "flowers" w/ wire or pipe cleaner stems,
fold up paper to cut out "people" or in winter "snowflakes,"
pick a flower or find a leaf & press btwn 2 pcs wax paper, then use in the making of a greeting card w/ heavy paper (cut a "window" that the flower or leaf will show through),
turn real flowers diff colors w/ food coloring in the water that you put in the vase (this requires a little patience),
turn an egg carton into a jewelry sorter--decorate however you wish & then someone like grandma can have some of her jewelry in a special place!

  • We made a family flower the other day. We traced several copies of each member of the family's hand on to different colors of construction paper. We then cut them out and arranged them around a circle, like flower petals. It turned out really cute with DS's tiny little hands in the middle and DH's big hands on the outside.
