We don't put them up. I noticed a lot still up. I am figuring the snow and temps have something to do with that.
We don't usually take them down until March/April. It all depends on the weather. We took them down in January this year because we had a break in the weather and my dh was able to get up on the roof. It is far too dangerous to attempt it when there is snow and ice. We do turn them off after the holidays though. There are still plenty of people who around here who still light them up.
