Coughing and headache

For the past few days SO has been coughing randomly throughout the day (his throat feels fine) and it has been giving him headaches. He also feels a bit nauseaus when he stands up after laying down for a while. He doesnt have a fever. I did some research online and of course everything I am reading says "brain tumor". I'd like a realistic diagnosis lol. We cant afford a doctor. He doesnt have insurance. Any ideas?

  • go to a clinic if it lasts more then 1 week

also tylenol or motrin will not relieve a headache caused by a tumor

  • Could be sinus trouble? Is there a CVS minute clinic in your area? Give him plenty of fluids & rest. Take his temperature. It is so frustrating when they are not well. Hope your son feels better soon.

  • Go to a free clinic or a county hospital.

  • the point being if you give him tylenol or motrin for his headache and the headache goes away thats a good sign it is something not too serious and you could wait out the issue a bit longer and go a less costly way

if they dont work and it is not gone in a week I'd worry a bit more and spend the $$ for testing

clinics base your payment on paycheck stubs and are very reasonable a full physical on a 60K /year salary at a clinic in NY is $125 for everything ECG labs and exam

  • oh ok thanks Melrn :) I think we have some headache meds I'll take a look. We do have a clinic but they dont base anything off income. it's just "quicker" than the er though it's really not. I'm in a small south geogian town.

  • I agree with Melrn, if it goes away with medicine (normal dose) then it probably isn't anything too serious. A headache from a tumor would be excruciating and a normal dose of pain reliever would not alleviate it. Believe me, I know.
