  • My daughter is almost 2 1/2 and we're getting her a toddler bed in a couple weeks when we get our tax return. We're not going to move her right away. We're going to try naps first and see how it goes. If it doesn't go well, then back to the crib. If it goes well, then we'll try nights. My DD has never tried to climb out of the crib though she tries to climb into it.

  • When they can crawl out of the crib

  • I agree with first response. Mine has been able to crawl out of everything i stick her in. I've been planning to get her her own bed. She's 2 almost 3 now btw if that helps.

  • When they're ready. Usually that's when the child can (or at least tries to) climb out of the crib. At that point it becomes a safety issue.

My son didn't move from his crib to a bed until he was 2.5, though. He never tried to climb out or anything, just decided one night he didn't want to sleep in the crib any more, and we never had any issues.

  • I agree. My oldest would have stayed in his crib for 10 years if I had let him. He was so happy in there and never tried climbing out. My youngest was climbing out at around 20 months.
