Tennessee Jail Fees ???

Do any of you ladies know how much the state of Tennessee allows a county jail to charge (per day) for an inmate's jail time. Some websites say $42, some $58, some more.

Tennessee code is unhelpful.

A family member of mine believes the county clerk is mismanaging fees being collected.

  • Are they charging the inmate? I have never heard of that. My husband works at a jail in Northwest Georgia and they charge other counties to house inmates at the jail he is at. I have also heard that Tennessee jails are horrible. I did find that the average cost to house an inmate each day is $63.41. I'll keep looking for more info.
