a $100 bill on the ground, would you try to find the owner or keep it for yourself.

  • You just found the $100 bill? You didn't see a person drop it or have NO idea where it came from, I would keep it. If I saw who dropped it I would give it back. Or if it was more, like you see people finding envelopes of money, I would take it to the police.

  • I would try to find out whose it was because it is illegal to keep it. This past December a lady accidental dropped an envelope of cash on the ground outside of a gas station. A few minutes later a guy found it and pocketed it. The cameras caught him picking it up and he was charged with theft by taking. He turned himself and the money in and the charges were later dropped.

    I agree with ILoveCade though. If I see who dropped it, I'd return it. If not, I think I'd keep it.

    If I was in a store and it was a large amount of money, I might report it to the customer service desk.
