My 2 year old daughter is getting tested for diabetes this Saturday :( Do any of you have a child or know of a child with diabetes so young? What were all thier symptoms?

Diabetes runs on both my family and her daddys side.
For about the past two months she has been excessively thirsty...which is a big sign, I know.
She has an appt with the lab this Saturday to have blood drawn to do testing.
What are other signs that I should pay attention to?

  • My step son was diagnosed at 1 with Type 1 diabetes. As of two years ago he was on shots 4 times a day, Now he is on the insulin pump by Medtronic. He was also diagnosed with Celic Disease which is common with diabetic kids. The intestines are rigid instead of smooth. So he is on a gluten free diet.

  • Also,

When the sugar level is low, they are very lethargic and tired. When they are high they are hyper and urinate alot. They are complaining of being thirsty alot.

  • If you look it up on webmd, they give pretty good info. Diabetes is a horrible disease and hopefully everything turns out all right. Best of luck to you and your daughter.
