Sunlight killing germs?

My mother swore that if you were sick you shouldn't be in a dark room. Instead be in a bright sunlight room or outside if the weather permits it. She claims it kills off the lesser germs. Now I know that when the first sunny warmish day in the winter arrives I feel better, but is this a psychosomatic thing?

  • The sunlight won't kill germs inside you. But Vitamin D does help with mood.

  • I say it will help your mood more than anything, thus making you 'feel better'

  • So in reality it seems that if one discounts the terminology used, if one is sick sunlight does help.
