Why is it when a married couple has issues they dont think they need counseling? actually, they even consider it, its just we dont need counseling!!!

  • Beets me. I think it's more of men don't want to do it because they think they can work out the problem themselves and don't like to talk about their feelings to a stranger. I think if more married people tried counseling there would be less divorces. So many people divorce over little things that can be soled.

  • I agree with mommy of two. If both partners are not into it, then counseling won't work, anyway.

    There is a negative stigma attached to counseling. Most people don't realize that talking through issues can really strengthen a relationship.

  • some people don't like to admit when they need help. counseling does not make you weak it will only make your marriage stronger. It is good to get someones else's perspective of things - it can open your eyes and make you realize something you otherwise wouldn't have.

    We've got for counseling if we needed a little help here and there. it's no big deal.

  • Some people have a stigma about counseling... "only those with real problems go" which is so not true. They don't want to admit they may have a negative thing about themselves that needs to be worked on.
