Michele Bachmann vs. Michelle Obama in breastfeeding war

Mrs. Obama has promoted the idea of more flexible workplace rules for nursing moms, and an IRS ruling that makes breast pumps and nursing supplies tax deductible.

Bachmann bragged about her ability to breast feed her brood of five children with no help from Big Government.
Rep. Michele Bachmann lashed out at First Lady Michelle Obama on Tuesday over her promotion of breastfeeding, particularly among black women, to curb obesity.

Where do you stand?

If you work in a place that doesn't allow time for pumping, how are you gonna breastfeed? That seems like a silly thing to say.

  • LOL She has the right to say anything she wants and I hardly think she "lashed"out. Aside from that, the fact that the government keeps tacking on the goodies that will cost us all. FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, they just don't get that you cannot keep spending. They think if it helps someone in some way it's ok and the fact that it will makes it ok. Well it doesn't.
Michelle Obama can tout fruit, veggies and breastfeeding all she wants and anyone who wants to follow her can do so. I just ignore her.

  • Here is the real question did Mrs Obama even breastfeed??? Why support something if you have never actually done it???? And where are they going to get the money for these tax deductions???

  • Well, when you work in money no one cares if you take time to pump... If you flip burgers, that is another story.

  • This actually wouldn't cost the governement very much. It would just be that you could buy your supplies through your FSA. It is your money, not the governments.

And, yes, with so many women having to work, our workplaces should allow us to pump. That is not a whole lot to ask.

Are people anti-breastfeeding now? What is that about?

  • Mrs. Sundin, do you know for a fact that she didn't? There are many women who would like to, but can't! Just saying...
