When does a baby start saying words?

My baby is almost 6 months old and I'm curious about when he will start saying words so I can start training him to say mommy lol =)

  • Typically by a child's first birthday they can say things like da-da, ma-ma, ba-ba, but the b and d words are more then likely going to come first, because they're easier to say. (require less articulation and muscle control)... I would expect your son to start making language connections anytime between now and a few months from now, but don't expect ma-ma until later.
