Sick baby

My 5 month old has been teething for weeks, but no sign of teeth.

Also, he seems to have a cold.

watery eyes,
runny nose,
clear mucus in his saliva (which is sometimes thick),
he had a fever which has gone,
chokes on saliva sometimes

but other than that he isn't fussing etc.

Is there anything I should be doing? I have given medicine, he has gel for his gums, he has vapor rub, I'm making sure he is warm and I use an aspirator in his nose regularly.

He has been like this for just over a week.

  • aww, I hope he feels better soon! I know its tough when the baby is feels like there really isn't much you can do but wait until they get better. It seems to me you've been doing all that you can.
If you are still worried about it, I would give the pediatrician a call and see what he/she says to do.

  • Thanks. When his brother used to get sick it was never this bad. Feels like unknown territory.

  • You need to take him to the doctor. I wouldnt play around with it. My little boy started out like that one time, and it turned into the croup. He was having to sit up to sleep & breath..and was making a horrible "goose" like sound.. They almost had to put him in the hospital for it. They ended up giving him a steriod shot and heavy antibotics. I would recommend playing it safe.
Also type A& B flu is out bad right now.
