  • do you have pay stubs you can look at to see if state taxes were withheld? Go to your state's tax website for info (Google your state and the word taxes)

  • Do you live in a state that has a state income tax? Did you file a state tax return? If so then you would know if you are getting money back or need to pay just like with your federal taxes. You can google your state and tax returns to get the form you need. The amount you paid if your state requires you to pay will be on your W2 form.

  • Look at your W-2s.

  • Did you file state taxes? Does your state have an online system that you can check on? There are 50 states, and they all do things differently.
