Has anyone bought Gala or Fuji apples in the last week or so?

I was wondering if they tasted different. We bought 6 apples a week ago. My GD first noticed it and told me her apple tasted funny. She will only eat Galas. I tasted it andit did seem off. So I tossed it. DH noticed his Fuji apple tasted weird too. When the third apple came up weird I took them back to the store. The produce manager said he had had more apples returned this week than he had had in months. I was wondering if it is a local issue..or other places too.

  • Bought Fuji and Gala apples here in Wa, and they were good. They were local apples as well.

  • We bought some and they tasted OK but I don't know where they came from. I bought them at a local Asian market.

The past year or so I've noticed most of the produce I buy goes bad more quickly than I would normally expect.

  • strange. we have been getting Galas lately and have not had a problem. If they tasted funny to me I would return them too.

  • I try to buy at the farmers market..but sometimes I just can't squeeze it in. When I have to go to the regular market the freshness is seriouly compromised.

  • It is odd. These all had USA stickers on them. The apples I generally buy come in from central america...the things that make you go hmmm

  • Not lately, but I do notice at different times of year they taste different. Doesn't bother me unless they taste downright bad.
