  • A home WLAN is only meant for use around your home. Sometimes you can get up to 10 feet range from your house. It really depends on your connection and whether or not you have/use range repeaters or other range amplifiers. You won't be able to get your wireless away from the house. Some restaurants and cafes have their own wireless network that you would be able to access for free usually. Verizon Fios users can register for Verizon's free hotspots wireless available throughout their region but that's only if you sign up for their Fios internet service that's 15Mbps speed or higher.
