Introducing a Bill Against Gay Families

Rep. Introduces Bill Against Gay Families By Advocate.com Editors Rep. Randy Forbes,Randy Forbes

a Republican from Virginia, Thursday introduced the Parental Title Protection Act, which would require federal agencies and contractors to describe parents as “mother” and “father” on official documents. HRC Back Story blog reports on the antigay proposal, H.R. 635. “In a press release, Forbes argues that ‘symbolism is important’ and that his legislation is necessary to prevent even ‘subtle’ changes that ‘undermine the traditional American family relationships that have served as the bedrock of our nation since its inception.’” Millions of children are being raised by same-sex partners in the United States, where one in every three lesbians and one in every five gay men are estimated to be parents.

  • What a waste of taxpayer money. Changing the phrasing on legal docs just to piss of people who are different than him? Fail.

  • Since this is coming from a Republican, I'm not surprised. Disgusted, yes. Surprised, no. I also wouldn't be surprised if a little down the line, he'll get caught coming out of a gay night club, the loudest homophobes usually are just in denial about their own sexual nature...

  • It's horseshit. Gay families don't undermine the "traditional american family" And if you ask me there are certainly plenty of hetero families that don't deserve children. I would rather see children in loving gay families than straight families where there is abuse, alcoholism, poverty etc etc

if we want to get technical the traditional american family this country was built on was one where women had no rights and were forced to stay at home and raise children. I'm sure those religious conservatives would love to go back to those days... me, no thanks.
